My Approach

My counselling approach is person-centred and being strength based is my guiding star – I strongly believe you are the expert of your own life, and I am here to hold judgement free space for you to be yourself; the good, bad, ugly and beautiful. We focus on what you feel is important, whether that’s reducing symptoms of anxiety, stress, burnout, grief, anxiety, perfectionism or procrastination, or releasing unhelpful patterns like overanalyzing or critical inner dialogue, to improving self esteem, emotional growth, adaptability, and relationships. Some clients are moving through tough experiences like job changes, divorce, and grief with compassion and grace. I use techniques from various theories including somatic, MBT and CBT, and incorporate existentialist theory into my integrative practice, creating a collaborative and holistic counselling experience.

While I’m often present and future focused- our past, families, and society – shape us, and I’m comfortable with whatever and whenever you want to discuss. Self insight, exploration, processing, and having access to positive tools can help overcome harmful habits, cognitions, spirals, and patterns. Sometimes, we get a little stuck – in a mindset, thought, or belief. We might not even see it ourselves. Sometimes we need to debrief an experience with an unbiased outsider to make clear our decisions.

I work with adults of all ages, families, couples, and mature minors (10+). When it comes to working with youth, I believe they are often inherently capable and vastly underestimated. In many cases involving youth counselling, parents can benefit from supportive counselling sessions. Not because they are doing anything wrong, but because our children and very different from ourselves, and learning collaborative parenting techniques can make all the difference in our relationships with them.
