About Me

My Approach

My clients are intelligent, capable people dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, procrastination, and/or those debriefing intense experiences like childbirth, accidents, and diagnoses. Some are processing major life transitions (parenthood, empty nest, loss, moves, careers, etc.) Some people are working on balance, often with work, uncovering values and goals while determining the path to achieve them.

My counselling approach is person-centred and being strength based is my guiding star – I strongly believe you are the expert of your own life, and I am here to hold judgement free space for you to be yourself; the good, bad, ugly and beautiful. We focus on what you feel is important. This looks different for everyone, but can include reducing symptoms of stress, burnout, grief, anxiety, perfectionism and procrastination. To some it may be releasing unhelpful patterns, like overanalyzing, decision paralysis, and taming critical inner dialogue. This work improves self esteem, emotional growth, adaptability, and relationships. Other clients are moving through tough experiences like job changes, divorce, and grief. I use techniques from various theories including MBT and CBT, and incorporate existentialist theory into my integrative practice, creating a collaborative and holistic counselling experience.

While I’m often present and future focused- our past experiences and interpretations, families, and society – shape us, and I’m comfortable with whatever and whenever you want to discuss. Self insight, exploration, processing, and having access to positive tools can help overcome harmful habits, cognitions, spirals, and patterns. Sometimes, we get a little stuck – in a mindset, thought, or belief. We might not even see it ourselves. Sometimes we need to debrief an experience with an unbiased outsider to make clear our decisions.

I work with adults of all ages, families, couples, and mature minors (12+). I believe young adults are inherently capable and vastly underestimated. I do work with children 8+, however, when it comes to working with children below age 12, I require caregivers to have occasional supportive counselling sessions. Not because they are doing anything wrong, but because being collaborative in expectations and techniques can make all the difference in our relationships with them.

About Me

A lifelong interest in people, society, and why we do what we do, led me to counselling. I have an undergraduate degree in Archaeology and Ancient History of the Near East, Greece and Rome. Studying the societal structure, religion, politics, arts, and sciences of the past fascinated me; I was curious to know both the why and how ancient cultures did what they did and the modern impacts of those bygone choices. Since then, I’ve spent many years as a writer, and worked with youth aged 10-17 in pro-social programming.

I am currently a Registered Professional Counsellor Candidate (RPC-C) through the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association, and a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor Candidate (RTC-C) through the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada. I am supervised by Dr. Elisabeth Scheepers. I work as a contractor through the Revelstoke Women’s Shelter, co-facilitating youth groups aimed at fostering pro social growth, emotional regulation and social skills. I’m a parent of two boys, I adore various outdoor pursuits, and can often be found reading and creative writing.

My space is safe for the neurodiverse and LGBTQIA2S+ communities, of which I am part of.
